Site work for an educational facility in Kelowna, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility.
The current report addresses feasibility of co-locating an Outdoor Gathering Space (OGS), associated landscaped gardens and features, above the subsurface District Energy Geoexchange Rapid Infiltration Basin (specifically, RIB#2), located at the south-east corner of the campus. The following issues have been identified by UBCO staff and will be addressed in this report: Potential risks and impacts of co-location of the OGS and the infiltration basin (i.e.-sinkholes and hydrogen sulfide (H2S)); Proposed treatments for integrating existing above ground infrastructure (ex. Well casings and blow out piping) into the site; Recommended mitigations or considerations required for increased site use. Specifically, in terms of structure siting/construction, landscape planting, utility location and access; and Potential disruptions to the OGS’s landscaped area above the infiltration basin due to any required RIB#2 maintenance and associated repairs.
