Demolition and site work for a residential development in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 11,770-square-foot residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
The Work consists of the following 1. Abatement and disposal of hazardous materials prior to demolition. 2. Demolition and disposal of existing buildings including foundations. 3. Demolition and disposal of existing utilities. 4. Backfilling and shaping disturbed areas. 5. All work shown on drawings and included in Specifications Manual. 6. Contractor is to perform the Work in accordance with pertinent State, Local and National Codes as well as all requirements of OSHA, including the Hazard Communication Standard and FEMA consensus based codes including IBC 2021, IEBC 2021, NFPA 101 2021, ASCE 7-16. 7. Contractor to provide all necessary barricades and signage during construction activities to prevent student/public entry into work zones and areas at risk for falling debris. For upper level and roof demolition on buildings greater than one story in height, the contractor shall provide a designated trash chute for all construction debris. The contractor shall pick up nails at the end of each work day. Contractor shall ensure all roofing nails are removed from site and properly disposed of off site once construction activities are complete for that portion of work. OSHA requirements shall be followed at all times, and all impedances to public and student travel paths shall be coordinated with the School Administration prior to work taking place. Any prospective bidder desiring an explanation or interpretation of the solicitation, specifications, drawings, etc., must request it at least 7 days before the scheduled time for bid opening. Bids shall be accepted only from contractors who are licensed under LA R.S. 37:2150-2163 for the classification of Building Construction. All bids must be sealed and plainly marked with the contractor's license number on the outside of the envelope. Bids will be publicly opened and read at the designated place and time. No proposal may be withdrawn within thirty (30) calendar days after the scheduled time of opening. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities. A bid bond equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount, made payable to the Lake Charles Housing Authority, must accompany each bid. A performance bond for the construction is required upon execution of the contract, equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. The Lake Charles Housing Authority shall execute the appropriate performance bond, contract, and all necessary documentation within thirty (30) days after acceptance of the contractor. Current prevailing wages apply. Bidders must show proof of insurance as required in the General and Special Conditions of the Specifications Requirements. The contractor will be paid in draws, in accordance with the specifications, with a 10% retainage held for the 45-day lien period. All payment applications must be submitted to the architect and then to the Lake Charles Housing Authority Modernization Coordinator for approval.
