The Rudee Inlet Maintenance Dredging Project will involve dredging up to approximately 220,000 cubic yards of sandy maintenance material from the Rudee Entrance Channel, Sand Trap, Entrance Channel Transition Area, North Jetty Area, South Jetty Area, and Outer Deposition Basin in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Of this, 50,000 cubic yards of material, sourced exclusively from the Deposition Basin, will be placed on Croatan Beach as optional work. All other dredged material will be placed on Resort Beach. The contractor must be capable of operating in an ocean environment with high recreational traffic and must avoid using Lake Wesley for staging. Instead, Croatan Point Dock facilities or the Safety Area of the Federal Project may be used. The contractor must also be able to pump sandy dredged material up to 1.25 miles.
