Prospect Street Improvement Project - Phase II. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Question Deadline Sep 24, 2025 Any questions during the bidding period as to the interpretation of the Invitation to Bid, form of proposal, form of Contract, plans, specifications or form of performance and payment bonds, must be received by the Town not less than seven (7) days prior to the date set for receipt of bids. The Project consists of but not limited to: This project will consist of improvements to the drainage infrastructure along Lower and Upper Prospect Streets in the town of Chester, MA. A. The Work under this Contract includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the installation of approximately 120 linear feet of 30-inch, 100 linear feet of 18-inch, and 165 linear feet of 12-inch HDPE gravity drain pipe, headwalls, manholes and catch basins. The project also includes but is not limited to demolition and abandonment of existing drain pipe; water main relocation; swales and stone check dams; trench excavation and backfill; disposal of all excess material; trench paving; installation of guardrail; and all appurtenances and incidental work necessary to complete the project. This includes all work for the base bid and bid alternates. B. Based on the time of this bid, the contract duration shall run until May 31, 2026. It will be the contractor's discretion whether they would like to start work this year or push the start of the work to Spring 2026. No work in the roadways shall be allowed after asphalt plants have shut down for the season. Contractor understands that bid costs shall be held for the duration of this project A. The Work shall consist of furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, tools, apparatus and all other incidental work required to complete the project as specified and shown on the Drawings. The Work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: 1. Mobilization and Demobilization to the site. Winter shutdown period shall be considered between 11/31/2025 through 3/15/2026. If the Contractor would like to conduct work prior to the winter shutdown, the Contractor shall be responsible for protecting and maintaining the site at their own expense. There shall only be a single charge for mobilization and demobilization over the course of this contract. 2. The removal and proper disposal of existing catch basins, manholes, and drain pipe. 3. Furnishing and installing of new deep sump catch basins and all appurtenances. 4. Furnish and installing of new drain manholes and all appurtenances. 5. Furnishing and installing of new drain pipe, headwalls, and all fittings and appurtenances and the connection of the new drain pipe to existing drain pipe with flexible couplings. 6. Furnishing required temporary drainage bypass systems to ensure the existing drainage system remains operational while the new drainage structures and piping are being installed. 7. Furnishing and installing headwalls and all fittings and appurtenances. 8. Removal and proper disposal or abandoning of existing drain lines by removal or filling annular space with controlled density fill (very flowable, excavatable) and plugging drain ends with brick and mortar. 9. Conducting test pit excavation to verify pipe locations and inverts. 10. Furnishing all materials and performing all excavations, backfilling of excavated areas, and restoration of surface pavement. See the design drawing detail sheet for trench details. 11. Adjustments/repairs and/or replacement of utility appurtenances (manholes, drain pipe, sewer pipe, water services, water valves, valve and curb boxes, etc.) and other related work, as specified or directed by the Engineer. 12. Installation of trench pavement as shown in the specifications and on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer. 13. Protection of all existing roadway pavement surfaces beyond the limits of trench excavation. 14. Furnishing and installation of guardrails and all appurtenances (bid alt item). 15. Restoration of driveways and landscaped areas as shown, and as required or as directed by the Engineer. 16. Submit "red line" as-built drawings that include swing ties to all newly installed structures; invert depths; pipe locations; and to all fittings and special appurtenances. 17. Furnishing, installing, and maintaining all traffic control and safety measures during the construction period, including signs, barricades, detours, and maintain safe vehicular and pedestrian access to abutting properties, businesses and commercial establishments and assuring an uninterrupted supply of utility services to all public amenities, businesses and abutters within the project area, at all times. 18. Maintenance and repair of all work for a period of one (1) year following the issuance of the Certificate of Substantial Completion. 19. The Work shall also conform to such additional Drawings and addenda to these Specifications and Drawings as may be published or exhibited prior to the opening of bid proposals and to such Drawings in explanation of details, or as may be furnished by the Engineer from time to time during the construction.
