A/E services, in coordination with CMR services, for the Radiology Outpatient Center (ROC) Replacement project involving the design and construction of a new, multi-story facility. MD Anderson currently operates a Radiology Outpatient Center (ROC) that comprises approximately 20,100 gross square feet (GSF) and is located at 1700 Holcombe Boulevard. The ROC was constructed in 1993 as a modular facility and has served as a diagnostic imaging hub for the institution within the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The facility currently supports four CT scanners and nine MRI units, including three mobile units that operate in outdoor conditions. Over its 32-year lifespan, the facility has experienced progressive deterioration, with mounting infrastructure issues that impact both patient care and staff operations, has exceeded its intended useful life and poses increasing risks to operational continuity, patient safety, and service quality. The Radiology Outpatient Center Replacement project involves the design and construction of a new, multistory facility comprising approximately 93,000 building GSF that is anticipated to be located on a vacant parcel located proximate to the southeast corner of the intersection of Old Spanish Trail (OST) and Staffordshire Street in Houston Texas. MD Anderson anticipates this new facility will house 12 MRI units, 4 CTs, 2 PET/CTs, and 1 Radiographic Fluoroscopy X-ray unit, and will facilitate consolidating and expanding existing services within one facility. The 31,000 GSF third floor is expected to be shell space to be finished out under a future separate project to accommodate evolving imaging technologies and increased future patient volumes. The scope of the project includes site and utility infrastructure development as well as the construction of a new on-site surface parking lot.The decommissioning and demolition of the existing ROC facility will be undertaken as part of a future project.
