RFP for A/E Services for New DCLS Building Location of Work: Approximate 21.2-acre portion of Hanover County Tax Parcel 7795-99-9936 located directly south of Tax Parcel 7796-910-0272 The scope of this project shall include approximatively 298,875 gross square feet lab facility and 401 surface parking spaces, on 21.2 acres, located in Hanover VA. The scope of the project may be expanded to include space to locate state pharmacy operations. Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services (DCLS) serves as the Commonwealth of Virginia's premier public health, environmental and emergency response laboratory. The Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (VDACS) is co-located with DCLS and provides critical agricultural laboratory services in support of all VDACS operations. The existing laboratory cannot accommodate a building expansion in its current location, and it has reached its operational limits due to space restrictions, not being able to accommodate technological advances required of a tier-one laboratory facility. There is now a critical need for additional laboratory space to ensure operational and high-complexity laboratory testing services support the Commonwealth's existing needs and to ensure the ability to expand testing capabilities and capacity in response to new testing requirements or the next public health crisis.
