The services include preparation of construction contract plans for the Downtown Safety and Streetscape Enhancement Project on South St. Clair Street in the City of Painesville, Lake County with a project length of approximately 650 feet. The city intends to improve safety and connectivity in this highly trafficked area by implementing infrastructure changes to South St. Clair Street between Main Street and East Washington Street. The project will enhance accessibility for all users by implementing crosswalk enhancements, intersection reconfigurations, a road diet, traffic calming measures, bump outs, and a bike lane. The project will encompass several enhancements aimed at improving pedestrian and cyclist safety and accessibility. These include the addition of a dedicated bike lane on the right hand side of the road running in parallel to motorists, connecting to the adjacent streets. Additionally, many improvements to the sidewalks will be implemented including the widening and increased elevations of the sidewalks to accommodate increased foot traffic, enhance pedestrian comfort, and ensure ADA compliance. These improved sidewalks will lead to the addition of a crossing that will be added to the middle of the street for better connectivity for pedestrians. The project will also incorporate improved intersection crosswalks, with upgrades featuring bump-outs for improved visibility and ADA compliant ramps.
