A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** New Wicomico Flagship Library On Schumaker Pond- 2026 The Project consists of an adaptive reuse renovation of an existing 33,500 square foot two story museum building to serve as the new primary hub of the Wicomico Library housing Library, Administrative and Community Service functions. The Renovation will consist of gutting a large portion of the west wing to accommodate a large stack area surrounded by a general seating area with break-out spaces along the perimeter to include study rooms, a children's area, a children's program room, a Teen space and a quiet reading room. Part of the renovation of the west wing will also include the addition of new windows in the exterior façade to bring natural light into the library space. A portion of the front lobby area will be enclosed to create a staff area, the front desk will be replaced with a circulation desk, and a small café and vending area will be added. Finishes throughout will be replaced, repaired and updated. Additionally, a large portion of the project will consist of replacing all mechanical systems, as well as updating electrical, plumbing, IT and security systems throughout the building. General Summary of Construction: Building construction is a slab on grade, with Masonry and metal framed exterior walls on strip footings and a metal bar joist and steel truss roof structure. The exterior finish of the building is comprised of various CMU veneers, fiber cement siding, and pvc trim. The roof finishes consist of a prefinished standing seam metal roof for pitched roofs and a single membrane roof for low-slope areas. The interior wall finishes are primarily painted gypsum board, with some aluminum storefront glass walls. The floor finishes consist of Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring, ceramic tile, VCT tile and carpet tiles. The ceilings are primarily acoustic tile or gypsum board, with some acoustic panels and exposed ceiling structure. The plumbing is standard. The Mechanical System is to be replaced in its entirety and the electrical IT, Audio Visual and Security Systems are to be upgraded.
