The La Gonda Way Bridge Improvements Project includes replacement of the La Gonda Way Bridge as part of the Caltrans Highway Bridge Program (HBP). Replacement of the bridge under the HBP makes it eligible for federal reimbursement of 88.53% of participating costs. The existing La Gonda Way bridge, built in 1950, is a threespan steel girder structure. The latest Caltrans inspection report performed in June 2014 classified the bridge as "structurally deficient" due to its poor deck condition. The bridge is also too narrow for existing traffic and pedestrian conditions. The replacement bridge will accommodate two lanes of traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians. The project will also include pedestrian improvements at La Gonda Way/Danville Boulevard intersection. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
