Beaufort-Jasper Water Sewer Authority (BJWSA) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced engineering firms to provide comprehensive engineering services for the replacement of force mains and water mains on two bridges; Islands Avenue Bridge and Anchorage Way Bridge, located in the Islands of Beaufort. Question Deadline 10/09/2025 at 4:00 PM ET Location : online portal All questions must be submitted website located at The 8" ductile iron water main and 4" ductile iron force main attached to the Islands Avenue Bridge, leading to Buzzard Island need to be replaced due to pipe deterioration. These mains were installed in 2004 and are approximately 600 lf long, each. The water main and force main have failed in recent years due to saltwater corrosion. Repairing these failures is challenging, as they are located under the bridge and in the marsh. During high tide, some portions of these mains are submerged in salt water. These mains serve 26 lots on Buzzard Island, including a pump station. The 8" ductile iron water main attached to Anchorage Way Bridge, leading to Deer Island needs to be replaced due to pipe deterioration. The water main was installed in 1999 and is approximately 650 lf long. This main is in the same condition as the mains on Islands Ave Bridge and needs to be replaced due to saltwater corrosion. This water main serves 31 lots on Deer Island, including a pump station. The Engineer will evaluate the existing conditions of the subject pipes, as well as consider the systems they are a part of to verify required capacities and pressure conditions. The Engineer shall provide an assessment for the replacement of the described combined +/- 1,250 lf of water main and 600 lf of force main.
