Site work and paving for a civil project in Claxton, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
**As of November 10 , 2025 , This project has been awarded to McLendon Enterprises, Inc for $285,378.58..** Bids are requested for the repair of Hillview Road in Tattnall County damaged by the May 11 Flood. Contractor will be given notice to proceed when bids are approved. Construction will consist of excavating any existing roadbed and installing (6) 48-inch diameter concrete culverts, 56 feet long at 1.00% slope. Project will also include building culvert headwalls/riprap outlet projection in accordance with GDOT Standards 1030D (Sheet 1), 1030D (Sheet 2), 1125, and Detail D-55A. Rebuilding the roadbed and replacing base and paving is also included. Quantity details are shown on the attached bid sheet. Grading will include roadbed, shoulders, and ditches. Contractor is to provide fill material for the project, which includes aggregate specified in GDOT Standard 1030D for pipe placement and backfill. Pave with 8" graded aggregate base, 2" 19mm mix asphalt and 1.5" 12.5mm mix asphalt. Stripe with solid white lines on edge and solid or skip double yellow lines in the center. "High Build Paint" per GDOT specification "652 - Painting Traffic Stripe" is to be used. The contractor is responsible for placing advanced warning signs. Location of utilities is the responsibility of the contractor. The county will fund any needed utility relocations, however, it is requested that the contractor work around the existing phone cable. Compaction testing is required for areas under pavement at each site. Cost for compaction testing to be included in the grading complete item. Compaction testing is to be done twice for each site, the first time when approximately half of the fill material is in place and the second time before paving. Test results are to be submitted to the County Engineer. All work is to be completed within 30 calendar days of notice to proceed, pending any delays due to weather conditions or problems acquiring pipe. All traffic control devices shall meet the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control. All other work shall meet GDOT Specifications. Tattnall County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
