Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Sayreville, New Jersey. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
**As of October 21, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** The project generally consists of roadway pavement improvements to Deerfield Road within the Borough of Sayreville and located between the intersections with Pulaski Avenue and Washington Road. The work involved with these improvements includes the maintenance and protection of traffic; test pit excavations for road / utility improvements; excavation of test pits for approximately 85 +/- of properties requiring water service investigations / verifications; resetting of existing water main / hydrant valve boxes to grade; repair / reconstruction of approximately 20 +/- of existing storm sewer inlet /manhole structures of various types; removal of existing and/or construction of new storm sewer Type "C" inlet structures; removal / replacement of existing deteriorated sanitary sewer manhole castings; removal / replacement of approximately 1,100 lineal feet +/- of existing concrete curbs; removal of approximately 600 square yards +/- of various types of concrete sidewalks, slabs, driveways and/or aprons; construction of approximately 600 square yards +/- of new standard Borough concrete sidewalks and approximately 100 square yards +/- of new standard Borough reinforced concrete driveways and/or aprons; furnishing / installation of cast-in-place handicapped sidewalk ramp delineation; cutting /removal of approximately 600 square yards +/- of existing asphalt pavement; roadway milling of approximately 18,500 square yards +/- of existing asphalt pavement; furnishing /installation of joint sealer material including crack / joint preparation, if and where ordered; installation of dense graded aggregate base course material, if and where ordered; installation of approximately 300 tons of hot mix asphalt base course material; resurfacing the entire roadway with approximately 2,500 tons +/- of hot mix asphalt surface course material; application of approximately 9,500 lineal feet of traffic pavement stripes / markings (4" wide lines); application of approximately 1,000 square feet +/- of traffic pavement markings (words and symbols); application of fire hydrant pavement markings (symbols); furnishing / installation of topsoil and seed; right-of-way/property restoration; and all other preparation, restoration and associated work in accordance with the Contract Documents. Each Bid must be accompanied by a certified check or cash in the amount of not less than ten (10%) percent of the Bid, but not more than $20,000.00 payable without any conditional endorsement as a guarantee that in case the Contract is awarded to the Bidder, he will within ten (10) days thereafter execute such contract and furnish satisfactorily performance bonds. Upon failure to do so he shall forfeit the deposit as liquidated damages and the acceptance of the Bid will be contingent upon the fulfillment of this requirement by the Bidder. No interest shall be allowed upon any such certified check or cash. A bid bond in the amount of ten (10%) percent of the Bid, but not more than $20,000.00, may be substituted for certified check or cash. Each Bid must also be accompanied by a certificate of Consent of Surety from a Bonding Company licensed to do business in the State of New Jersey and named in the current list of "Surety Companies Acceptable on Federal Bond", U.S. Treasury Department, guaranteeing that if the proposal of the Bidder be accepted they will furnish the bond set forth in Articles 2 and 5 of the General Conditions Section F of the Contract and the acceptance of the Bid will be contingent upon the fulfillment of this requirement. The Borough reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities specified in the manner designated in the Specifications. No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening thereof. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Surety Company Bond in the full amount of Contract price indemnifying the Borough of Sayreville, New Jersey for all proceedings suits or actions of any kind of description and conditional for the faithful performance of the work. All Bid security will be returned to all Bidders except the three apparent lowest Bidders within ten (10) working days after the opening of Bids, and to the three apparent lowest Bidders within three (3) working days after the successful Bidder has executed the Contract and his Contract security has been approved by the Borough. The award shall be subject to the approval of the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The Borough reserves the right to award this Contract based on funds available. All bidders are required to be registered with the New Jersey Department of Labor if they elect to bid public work projects. The Borough reserves the right to reject any, or all Bids if in its opinion it is in the best interest to do so. Question Deadline 10/13/2025 Every request for such interpretation shall be in writing, addressed to the Engineer, at the address included in the advertisement and to be given consideration must be received no later than three (3) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of Bids.
