The project consists of site work and construction of a MBW building on the existing Cedar Rapids DOT Complex. The Iowa DOT maintenance facility will be fully operating on the existing site throughout all construction. Existing DOT Complex will be Owner occupied throughout the year and it is critical to maintain winter operation needs such as brine making, water, use of the existing maintenance facility and access to the salt. The planned MBW building is currently utilizing building systems that have been designed as referenced on the Plans and Project Manual on 645-RFP-1979-2026 located on the Iowa IMPACS system. The DOT does not anticipate any significant design changes to primary building system design; nor the primary structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems shown on Plans. Suggestions and value engineering opinions are to be included in services, but primary base of design is not anticipated to change. This project will require coordination between the Owner and the CM to ensure continued operations of the existing facility during construction of the new building onsite prior to winter operations starting October 15 th annually, along with coordination of the startup of the new facility. The project consists of a new 8,400 SF MBW building. Work includes the building, site development, excavation and site utilities. The new MBW building will be a single story, non-sprinklered building. The construction will consist of concrete foundations, slabs on grade, precast insulated load bearing wall panels and an EPDM roofing system over steel deck and supporting steel joists. Heating and cooling systems and infrared radiant heat loops. Electrical will include a new generator. Plans provided are at Ninety Percent plus (90%+) for Architectural, MEP, Civil, and Structural. The Architectural Services team of the DOT plans for the project to be completed in a single phase and to maintain operations at the project site continually during construction and winter operation.
