Featherstone Township has approximately 36 miles of paved and gravel roads. Contractors must furnish their own equipment for maintenance of township roads, with all services performed at the direction of the Township Board of Supervisors. The services include year-round road maintenance. Bids should specify the rate per hour, and list the size/model of equipment to be used; motor graders should include the length of blade. Winter maintenance requires at least two snowplows on the road for any major snowfall. Salt and sand will be purchased separately by the township. Bids should also specify the hourly labor rate for sign replacement, tree trimming, and similar work. Contractors are required to guarantee all labor and materials against defects, with replacements made at the contractor's sole expense if deemed defective. The primary contractor is responsible for any subcontracted work. Proposals with minimum monthly billings for winter months may be considered. Before commencing work, the successful bidder must provide certificates of insurance for general and workers compensation coverage meeting specified minimums.
