Phase 3 involves construction work on the exhaust systems and for each of the 44 non-compliant chemical fume hoods in the ABP, CMT, EPS, EVT, and GHK buildings. This phase includes, but is not limited to, the following actions based on an assessment conducted by a consulting engineering firm: 1) Replacement of ventilation ducts; 2) Replacement of exhaust fans with new ones to be installed in the roof; 3) Upgrade of electrical distribution in the targeted laboratories; 4) Upgrade of lighting in the targeted laboratories; 5) Upgrade of services in the targeted laboratories (compressed air, gas, domestic water, purified water); 6) Demolition work in conditions of asbestos and lead; 7) Demolition and replacement of identified chemical fume hoods; 8) Certification of chemical fume hoods in accordance with IM 15128-2013; 9) Replacement of defective variable volume valves; 10) Installation of centralized chemical fume hood control systems; 11) Balancing of the air supply so that the pressure in the treated laboratories is maintained at negative ambient pressure within them following the work. TIMELINE: Contract for engineering structural services has been assigned via contract agreement # 2609. Reference # 20103186. Construction is scheduled to start in October, 2026, and will take one year. Timelines for tender for general contractor and construction schedules will be finalized at a later date.
