Sealed bids are invited for Creosoted Timbers for use by the Shelby County Commission. Materials must be southern pine treated in accordance with ASTM D390-92, Standard Specifications for Coal-Tar Creosote Preservative. Any entity of the Shelby County Commission may purchase from this bid. Use of trade names and numbers establishes a standard of quality and is not intended to limit competition. All bidders must use the provided form to submit bids, which must be sealed and clearly marked in the lower left hand corner as “BID – Creosoted Timbers” with the opening date and time. Late bids will not be opened. Bids submitted are to be firm with no claims for errors allowed after opening. State Sales Tax and Federal Excise Tax are not to be included. Bids may be disqualified for failure to properly mark the envelope, failure to sign or notarize the bid, or failure to include requested information. The award will be made to the lowest responsive bidder meeting specifications, but factors such as quality, conformity with specifications, purpose, terms of delivery, and past service and experience can also be considered.
