The approximate quantities of major items of work are as follows: 1,840 Ton HMA Paving 824 Feet Storm Sewer, 48 inch to 54 inch 1,376 Feet Sanitary Sewer, 27 inch 1,575 Feet Water Main, 6 inch to 8 inch Manholes, Catch Basins, Valves, Hydrants, Fittings, Restoration, and all appurtenant work. This project will be entirely funded by the City of Zeeland; no federal or state grants are involved. Only Bidders who have been prequalified by the City of Zeeland within the required days in advance of the bid opening in accordance with the Information for Bidders section will have their bids opened and read. In submitting this Proposal, it is understood that the right is reserved by the City of Zeeland to reject any or all Proposals and to waive any irregularities in bidding. It is agreed that this Proposal may not be withdrawn for 30 calendar days from the opening thereof. Should there be reasons why the contract cannot be awarded within the specified period, the time may be extended by mutual agreement between the City of Zeeland and the Bidder. The undersigned further agrees to complete all work for Stage 1 on or before May 1, 2026, all work for Stage 2 on or before June 12, 2026, and all work for all stages by October 30, 2026. If the undersigned does not finish the work within the time specified, the City of Zeeland, or its duly-authorized representative, because of the difficulty in estimating damages, is authorized to retain out of the money which may be due or become due, the sum of $1,500.00 for each calendar day by which the Contractor shall fail to complete the work, said sum to constitute liquidated damages and not a penalty. All Proposals shall be made in accordance with the Bidding Documents. A Proposal Guarantee payable to the City of Zeeland, in the sum of five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, must accompany the Proposal in accordance with the Information for Bidders. The City may require a list of similar projects and references from the low bidder prior to award and may require an interview prior to selecting the contractor.
