Site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in Ottawa, Ontario. Working plans call for the construction of a 324,000-square-foot laboratory facility; and for site work for a laboratory facility.

The new facility will be located at the existing Canadian Food Inspection Agency's Ottawa Laboratory (Fallowfield) and will relocate scientific operations from existing infrastructure in critical or poor condition to this state-of-the-art modern facility. The project includes construction of a new laboratory building of approximately 30,000 sq meters with a dedicated central utility plant to support the laboratory system and approximately 3000 sq meters consisting of two farm buildings, Guard shack. The project also involves construction and installation of geothermal system and modifications to the civil infrastructure in the existing campus to serve the new construction. Located on a 20-hectre site on Fallowfield Rd, between Cedarview Road and Greenbank Road. TIMELINE: Provencher Roy Associés Architectes Inc. and Perkins&Will Canada Inc., a joint venture, for design services, and PCL Construction Canada Inc. for construction services. PCL as the construction manager will issue on MERX Publicly to pre-qualify respondents with the necessary experience to function as a subcontractor for a portion of the project. Early works was issued for prequalification in fall 2024. November 2024: Preparatory site works began. Spring 2026: Groundbreaking expected. Construction timelines have yet to be finalized.
