Site work for a power facility in Head Bay d'Espoir, Newfoundland. Conceptual plans call for site work for a power facility.
Bay D'Espoir Generating Station Major Projects. Scope to include: construction of a new 150MW turbine and generator in unit bay 8 as an extension to powerhouse 2; unit7 (U7) life extension project; penstock 2 and 3 refurbishment. TIMELINE: Project was released from Environmental Assessment process November 2025. RFP for engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) closed September 2025 and has been awarded. Front End Engineering Design is complete. Detailed design has begun. Early works timelines have not yet been finalized. Supply and construction of various project components will be tendered in batches, beginning Q3 2026, pending approvals. Further update may be confirmed fall 2026.
