Bay D'Espoir Generating Station Major Projects. Scope to include: construction of a new 150MW turbine and generator in unit bay 8 as an extension to powerhouse 2; unit7 (U7) life extension project; penstock 2 and 3 refurbishment. TIMELINE: Environmental Assessment was registered through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as of August 2025. Owner issued an RFP for engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) which closed September 2025; submissions are under review. Early works expected to proceed in 2026/2026. Major construction works not anticipated prior to 2028. Further update may be confirmed spring 2026. Inquiries to MajorProjects@nlh.nl.ca. The civil engineer completed the Front End Engineering Design (FEED).
