The work consists of replacement of sewer main, water main installation, and brick street restoration on 1st and A Streets adjacent to Triangle Park. The project will be a unit price bid. Remove & Salvage Brick Pavers 1,160 sq. yds. Reinstall of Brick Surface 1,280 sq. yds. 7" PCC Pavement (under brick) 550 lin. ft. 30" Curb & Gutter 140 sq. yd. Colored & Stamped Sidewalk/Crosswalk 510 lin. ft. Pavement Striping, Paint Vibration Monitoring Bid Security: Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check, or credit union certified share draft in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. The certified check or cashier's check shall be drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa, or an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States of America; certified share drafts shall be drawn on a credit union in Iowa or a credit union chartered under the laws of the United States. Bid security should be made payable to the Clerk of the City as security that if awarded a contract the bidder will enter into a contract at the prices bid and furnish the required Performance and Payment Bonds and Certificate of Insurance. The certified check, cashier's check, or certified share draft may be cashed, or the Bid Bond forfeited, and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the Bidder fails to execute a contract or file acceptable to the McGregor City Council. Construction Schedule and Milestones: The work shall commence when weather permits after approval of the Contract by the City Council. The Contract shall be Substantially Complete by August 30, 2026, and Ready for Final Payment by September 15, 2026. Performance and Payment Bonds: The successful bidder shall furnish a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond on the forms provided in the Bidding Documents. The successful bidder will be required to conform to the wage requirements prescribed by the federal Davis-Bacon and Related Acts which requires that all laborers and mechanics employed by contractors and sub-contractors performing on contracts funded in whole or in part with federal funds in excess of $2,000 pay their laborers and mechanics not less than the federal prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits, as determined by the Secretary of Labor, for corresponding classes of laborers and mechanics employed on similar projects in the area. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise: The City of McGregor encourages DBE's, including MBE's and WBE's, to submit bid proposals. DBE's must be certified through the Iowa Department of Transportation. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality in bidding and to accept the bid as it deems to be in the best interests of the City.
