The project involves bid management and construction oversight services for floodplain restoration at the Dorothy Smith Access Area. The scope of work includes restoring riparian habitat and floodplain access by reducing impervious surface along the parking lot, removing gravel built up on the floodplain, re-vegetating the floodplain, and maintaining river access via a walking path. The project aims to provide floodplain access, enhance flood resiliency, and reduce sedimentation and stormwater runoff into the Lamoille River. The Access Area is located upstream of the confluence with the Brewster River and has historically experienced issues with streambank erosion, sedimentation, and nutrient loading. Floodplain restoration at this site is intended to provide storage for flood water, ice, and debris, reducing sedimentation inputs into the Lamoille and Brewster River, and was identified as a priority in the 2021 Cambridge Stormwater Master Plan.
