Project Background The City of San Diego, through its Utilities Undergrounding Program (UUP), is currently converting approximately 15 miles of overhead power and communication lines with safer and more reliable underground systems throughout the City each year. Approximately 1,000 miles of overhead utility lines remain to be underground. In addition to utilizing statewide funds for undergrounding, the City's aggressive plans for undergrounding overhead utilities in Community Blocks is funded primarily through a 2003 California Public Utilities Commission approved undergrounding surcharge on San Diego residents' electricity bills. This Contract will be supported by the surcharge fund. Response Types Response File Type of Award Lump Sum Project Description The as-needed electrical engineering Consultant shall have an individual or individuals approved by SDG&E (Certified Applicant Designer status) as both a Utility Overhead (OH) and a Utility Underground (UG) Designer. The Consultant shall provide as-needed electrical engineering design services for the Utilities Undergrounding Program SDG&E Electrical Distribution System Design Projects within the City of San Diego. The Electrical Distribution Design Plans and Contract Specifications shall include the following items, but not limited to; distribution planning and fusing requests, trench and conduit design, cable and connector design. The Consultant shall provide Utilities Undergrounding Consolidated Design Plans and Contract Specifications, which shall include items such as a cover sheet, table of contents, legend, vicinity map, and abbreviations. The Consultant shall provide the Preparation of Notice to Bid, which shall include items such as consolidated drawings, trench and conduit job, and on-line diagrams. The Consultant shall provide Design Support Services during bidding and construction as requested. The services provided shall include items such as responding to questions during the bidding stage, attending mandatory Pre-Bid Meetings, reviewing bids with the City of San Diego. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
