Description

Site work for a water / sewer project in Portsmouth, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for site work for a one-story above grade water / sewer project.

The City of Portsmouth intends to install new backup generators to supply power to water pumps to maintain water distribution during times of failed electrical services. The generators will be installed into existing water facilities on their grounds with minimal impacts to the surrounding area. Physically, the locations are spread throughout the southern portion of Scioto County and provide water for Scioto and Lawrence Counties. The project site is located in a special flood hazard area subject to inundation by 1% annual flood chance. Disturbance to the floodplain for the facility upgrades will affect approximately 1 acre. Potential impacts to the 100-year floodplain were evaluated for this project. As this project entails improvements to the already existing water pumps and construction at existing pump stations, it was determined that further disturbance to the floodplain will be nonexistent/negligible. Any interested person, agency, or group wishing to comment on the project may submit written comments for consideration.
