Demolition, site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Anita, Iowa. Completed plans call civil work for an educational facility, pipeline, sidewalk / parking lot and water / sewer project.

The work includes demolition, in accordance with SUDAS Division 10, of the CAM North Elementary School building and associated improvements at 709 McIntyre Road, Anita, Iowa 50020. A summary of the building is included below: o The CAM North Elementary School is a 23,570 base square-foot (SF), brick structure with a 1,762 SF metal canopy constructed in 1957. The building is one story and has a flat roof consisting of rubber membrane and steel construction. The structure has a partial basement utility tunnels. The building is connected at the north to an 8,216 SF metal frame structure that is to remain. Demolition includes removal of sidewalks, foundation footings, basement slabs, unused utility vaults and conduits, any crawl spaces or tunnels, and any additional at- or above-grade improvements with the exception of existing light poles. The Work also includes removal and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials associated with the property. All materials removed from the property shall be done in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Work includes backfilling all existing excavated basements, disconnection of remaining utilities, removal of trees as indicated, and other requirements per SUDAS associated with the demolition and rough site grading. Plan sheets identify sidewalk locations to be removed and to remain. The edge of McIntyre Road shall be saw cut to remove curbing if the alternate bid item is not selected. The north adjoining site is an active daycare center that utilizes the breezeway connected at the north edge of the project area and sidewalks immediately north of the project area. Contractor shall exercise caution to maintain safety of daycare operations and shall walk the site boundary daily to ensure fence is intact and construction debris is contained to the project area. Protect existing light poles. Contractor is responsible for capping/plugging water and sanitary at the main. Remove water and sanitary utility infrastructure from the building to the capped location. Telecommunications to the building is turned off and infrastructure is to remain undamaged. Gas is already capped north of the building. Cap/plug gas utility infrastructure at the building end once separated from the building leaving the infrastructure in place. Contractor is responsible for providing and compacting fill, and performing final grading to match surrounding contours. The alternate bid item is for removal and disposal of McIntyre Road between 10th Street and the parking lot off McIntyre Road near Turner Street. McIntyre Road, in the vicinity of the telecommunication utility infrastructure, is to remain in place. CAM CSD will remove McIntyre Road in the vicinity of the telecommunication utility infrastructure.
