As of November 26, 2025 the project has been awarded and demolition is complete. The City of Hiawatha is accepting sealed bids for the demolition of 310 Hiawatha Ave as specified in the attached specification sheet. All timely received bids will be reviewed following the opening and readings of the bids forwarded to the Hiawatha City Commission, with City staff recommendation for the consideration of award. All bids must be submitted in accordance with the bid form in a sealed envelope clearly marked as 310 HIAWATHA DEMOLITION All KDHE and EPA regulations that are required with this project must be met. Awarded bidder must be licensed by the City of Hiawatha. The City of Hiawatha will provide a dump site for cement, rock and limbs. All other materials shall be taken to the appropriate facility. All utility lines must be properly disconnected and capped under Municipal City Codes. The City of Hiawatha reserves the right to refuse any and all bids and or waive any irregularities in this bid. All bidders must agree that any such rejection and or waiver shall be without liability on the part of the City of Hiawatha, Kansas for any damage or claim brought by any bidder because of such rejections and or waivers nor shall bidders seek any recourse of any kind against the City of Hiawatha, Kansas because of such rejection and or waivers, and the filing of any bid in response the invitation and request for bids shall constitute an agreement to the bidder to these conditions. City crews will be available to assist upon request The City of Hiawatha will give preference to local bidders within 5 miles of the City of Hiawatha. The City Commission reserves the right to accept the best responsible bid and bidder for this project. A copy of workman s comp insurance must be provided to the City of Hiawatha before work can begin. If you choose to opt out on workman s compensation insurance then a waiver must be signed. This waiver can be picked up by contacting City Clerk, 701 Oregon Street, Hiawatha, KS 66434. This project shall start in thirty days of notification of the accepted bid. Both houses shall be on the ground by November 27, 2025. Removal of the debris can be done the following week.
