Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Sanford, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a parking garage; for site work for a parking garage; pre-engineered storage facility; and pre-engineered storage facility.
This project would construct a new bus garage and maintenance storage building on the present Jonesboro School and bus garage site. This new facility would maintain all buses and other vehicles for Lee County Schools. The current school bus garage would be upfitted to provide additional storage space for the school system. As of October 20, 2025, this project is included in the County's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Further information regarding a design firm and timeline for construction has not yet been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
