Bessemer City is requesting experienced and qualified firms and organizations to submit a statement of qualifications to provide design-build services associated with the cost engineering and construction of a new fire department facility. The delivery method for this construction project will be design-build, with a guaranteed maximum price and a single prime design-build agreement between the City and the identified design-build contractor. The contractor will be expected to deliver a finished, fully usable, operational and code-compliant fire station that meets the City's project requirements. If funding does not allow for the full completion of the fire station, options may include completing a portion of the project scope for the fire station and/or renovating the existing fire station to be transformed into a police station. The project and current design calls for the construction of a new fire station, approximately 80’ by 108’, with five pull-through bays, administration, storage, living quarters for firefighters, and possibly an exterior public restroom. The selected firm may propose a different-sized facility, as long as it meets departmental needs and fits on the project site. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
