Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Santa Monica, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

The City of Santa Monica, through its Public Landscape Division, is seeking qualified contractors to furnish, deliver, and install components and perform repair work on sports field lighting systems at six citywide locations. Question Deadline 10/27/2025 at 3:00 PM PT Questions must be submitted online in the Q&A tab. The City will only accept or respond to questions submitted through online. One question per submittal. (This does not mean one question per vendor.) Submittals containing multiple questions will not be answered. There will not be a job walk held for this project. The City maintains multiple heavily used sports fields across the city that support youth leagues, adult recreational sports, and community programming including Marine Park, Clover Park, Memorial Park, Airport Park, John Adams Middle School, Belmar Park, and Los Amigos Park. These facilities include lighting poles reaching heights of 60-85 feet, which require specialized equipment and expertise to maintain. Reliable and safe sports field lighting is essential to ensure extended evening use and provide equitable access for all users. However, due to the specialized nature of the equipment--lighting poles from 60-85 feet high--and limited internal staffing and resources, the City relies on external contractors for timely repairs and maintenance. Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to provisions of Section 1770, et seq., of the Labor Code of the State of California, the Contractor shall pay its employees the general prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Director of Department of Industrial Relations. In addition, the Contractor shall be responsible for compliance with the requirements of Section 1777.5 of the California Labor Code relating to apprentice public works contracts. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for a public works project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded a contract for public work on a public works project (awarded on or after April 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. In the event the contractual services agreement issued as a result of this Notice Inviting Bids the Contractor shall pay its employees the general prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Director of Department of Industrial Relations, the Living Wage or the Minimum Wage, whichever is higher.
