The goal is to provide the Benzie County Road Commission with a modern facility that supports the safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance of county roads year-round. A Road Commission operations facility is a complex structure with specific functional needs. The building must be designed to accommodate large equipment, vehicle maintenance, material storage, administrative operations, and staff support areas. The facility must include space for fleet storage and parking, truck repair and maintenance bays, a welding/fabrication area, a wash bay, parts and material storage, and a sign shop. Additionally, the building must support administrative operations, public interaction, and training needs. The ideal facility will provide a heated vehicle storage area to prolong the life of equipment and allow for winter readiness, properly ventilated workspaces, safe circulation for large vehicles, and dedicated staff areas.
