The County of Person is seeking proposals from qualified Service Providers/Contractors for the design and construction of two accessibility improvements at the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex in Roxboro, North Carolina: (1) construction and installation of a new ADA-compliant elevator system, connecting the auditorium basement to the auditorium stage level; and (2) design and construction of new ADA-compliant restroom facilities within the auditorium section of the Complex. Scope of Work - Elevator The selected Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to design, construct, and install a fully ADA-compliant elevator system providing vertical access between the auditorium basement and stage level. Work shall be in accordance with applicable building codes, ADA standards, and required engineered construction drawings. Scope includes, but is not limited to: review of existing building conditions and coordination with County personnel; structural modifications to accommodate the new elevator shaft and equipment; construction of elevator shaft and installation of all elevator components (electrical, mechanical, control systems); integration with fire and life safety systems in compliance with local codes; interior finish work and restoration around elevator installation areas; coordination of all inspections and testing for code compliance and full operability; minimization of disruption to ongoing programs and facility operations during construction; final cleanup and site restoration upon project completion. All work shall be performed with consideration for the historic and aesthetic integrity of the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex. Scope of Work - Restrooms The selected Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to design and construct new ADA-compliant restroom facilities within the auditorium section of the Complex. Work shall be in accordance with applicable building codes, ADA standards, and required engineered construction drawings. Scope includes, but is not limited to: review of existing site conditions and coordination with County staff on layout and location; development of design drawings/specifications meeting ADA and building code requirements; selective demolition and preparation of existing interior space; construction of partition walls, flooring, ceilings, and high-traffic public finishes; installation of all plumbing fixtures, piping, and connection to existing utilities; installation of electrical and mechanical systems, including lighting, ventilation, and accessories; installation of ADA-compliant features: grab bars, sinks, mirrors, signage, etc.; coordination of inspections, permitting, and final approvals; restoration of any adjacent areas affected and final cleanup. The Contractor must prioritize timely completion, safety, and historic preservation.
