GREENHOUSE 1. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK a. In general, the scope of work for the Greenhouse involves the abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) and removal of lead-based and leadcontaining paint on existing components of the existing historic greenhouses, lean-to greenhouses, connector spaces between the Head House and the Greenhouses and between the East and West Greenhouses, and associated cold frames. b. Note that there are existing n tunnels that run north-south through the connector between the Head House and the Greenhouses and East Greenhouse and the West Greenhouse as well as east-west below the slab in portions of the East Greenhouse and the West Greenhouse. 2. DEMOLITION AND ABATEMENT a. The following existing items shall be removed and disposed of as part of scope of the demolition and abatement contract: i. chicken wire hail protection - the galvanized steel pipe frame shall remain 1. after removing glazing and wood components, temporarily secure the frame mounts to the steel frame of the greenhouse ii. lead-based and lead-containing paint on the steel frame, other steel components, pipes, steel cap at top of concrete walls, rack & pinion sash operating hardware, etc. iii. wood components of the greenhouses, including the wooden glazing bars, muntins, sashes, etc. (glazing compound on glazing bars, etc. is asbestos containing and shall be removed with the glazing bars, etc.) iv. wood ledger, framing and plywood sheathing at the flat portion of roof at the southwest greenhouse where it butts to the west greenhouse. 1. to facilitate removal of the wood ledger, etc. as noted above, remove and salvage the short horizontal aluminum framing members and fasteners at the top of the frames and salvage for reinstallation by others 2. provide temporary bracing and support for the southwest greenhouse framing as required LATH HOUSE 1. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK a. In general, the scope of work involves the removal of lead-based and leadcontaining paint on existing components of the existing historic Lath House. 2. DEMOLITION AND ABATEMENT a. The following existing items shall be removed and disposed of as part of scope of the demolition and abatement contract: i. Lead-based and lead-containing paint on the steel frame, etc. ii. Wood components including the wood lath at the walls and roof as well as associated trim, etc. i. Existing soil in the Lath House, shall be removed to the depth necessary to remove the lead contamination, 2 inches minimum. ii. Existing soil in an area 6 feet outside the perimeter of the Lath House, shall be removed to the depth necessary to remove the lead contamination.
