The City of Carlsbad (City) is soliciting this Request for Proposal (RFP) to obtain proposals for architectural, structural and mechanical, electrical & plumbing (MEP) design services to enhance the appearance and ambiance on the first floor of the Library Learning Center for city staff and patrons. The building was constructed in 2008 and has not been renovated since then. The City requires that the first floor area be reconfigured to provide a separation between public and city staff spaces, improve safety and accessibility, reconfigure and improve access and functionality to meet the current needs of city staff and library patrons. A conceptual layout is included as Attachment D; however, these documents only represent preliminary ideas. The city requires that the design work be thoroughly completed, supported with technical specifications (separate document in book form) and then submitted for review and permitting through the City's plan check and permitting process. The city also requires that the lead design consultant assist the city during their construction bid solicitation process by providing thorough answers to bid questions. The Agreement between the city and the Consultant will be for a two-year term with an option for up to two (2) additional one-year term extensions. See bid documents for additional details.
