Sealed proposals from qualified general contractors will be received for a new gymnasium addition to Montevallo High School. Proposals must be submitted in duplicate. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to Shelby County Board of Education, amounting to at least five percent of the proposal (not exceeding $10,000), must accompany each proposal. Performance and payment bonds, as well as evidence of insurance as required in the bid documents, will be required upon contract signing. Drawings and specifications may be viewed online; contractors must provide evidence of proper licensing for the work classification before obtaining documents. Only general contractors who have obtained digital copies from the architect and are on the official bidders list may submit bids. Bids must use proposal forms furnished by the architect. All bidders bidding amounts above the threshold must be licensed according to the Code of Alabama, and the current license number must be displayed on the outside of the bid envelope. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if it is in the owner's best interest. Bids received from contractors not on the official list may not be accepted or opened. All Requests for Product Approval must be made in writing to the office of the Architect at least ten (10) days prior to the date set for the opening of bids.
