Site work, paving, outdoor lighting and new construction of a municipal facility in Ames, Iowa. Design plans call for the construction of a 14,150-square-foot, one-story above grade municipal facility; for site work for a municipal facility; for outdoor lighting for a municipal facility; and for paving for a municipal facility.
The new shelter will be located between the existing shelter and an existing dog park. The new facility will benefit from the synergy of its contiguous active outdoor neighbors. The old shelter will be adapted into a covered open air community center at the head of an existing park trail. The property will be 5 acres, 4,150 square-foot building, 158 habitats, and 3 exercise yards. As of November 20, 2025, the project is in design. The construction document completion timeline has not been released. A tentative bid schedule for contractors has not been released. Construction is slated to begin late April or early May 2026.
