The successful contractor will clear and clean the drainage ditch back to its original parameters. Some projects will require a "snag & drag" approach to remove fallen trees and naturally occurring dams that restrict water flow. Other projects will require excavating leaf litter, debris, and sedimentation to restore the original parameters of the ditch. This project is a combination of both. It begins as a snag & drag upstream at Hickman St. Rt. 619 and continues northeast for approximately 2,000 feet and turns southeast for 130 feet, then splits into two ditches that terminate at Rt. 13. The total length of the project is approximately 2,500 feet which includes both of the split ditches. The excavations of sedimentation will be down to the original parameters only. Approximately 6" of leaf litter and sediment have been observed, as well as filled in areas by fox dens. There is also some light brush that will have to be removed from Hickman Street for approximately 300 ft in a hedgerow area. The excavations are to be no wider or deeper than the original parameters. Excavated material will be placed on the bank near the ditch in as unobtrusive manner as possible and breached for 5 ft every 50 ft when necessary to prevent blocking field drainage. Any tracks or "scars" left on the project site field will have to be smoothed out or back filled if necessary.
