Work generally consists of an approximate 7,000 square foot addition to an existing building that includes a cafeteria, kitchen, classrooms, and office space. The new addition will be constructed of concrete masonry unit walls, structural steel framing, and a metal panel roof. Interior finishes include VCT flooring, painted walls, and suspended ceilings. The exterior walls will have brick veneer attached to the concrete masonry units. The mechanical system consists of rooftop equipment and concealed and exposed ductwork. Typical plumbing work is included. The electrical scope includes power, lighting, access control, fire alarm system, and other low voltage components. The addition will be fully sprinklered as an extension of the existing system. Additional work includes demolition and full renovation of existing bathrooms in another part of the school building. Bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the total base bid. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder as determined by the Board of Education considering conformity with specifications, delivery terms, quality, and serviceability. The Board will also consider and compare the experience and performance history of the bidder on similar projects, including the ability to meet delivery terms, quality of work, and responsiveness to service calls. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informalities, irregularities, technicalities, or defects in any bid in the best interest of the School District. Contractors must comply with all Illinois statutory requirements regarding labor and prevailing wage rates, have required policies for sexual harassment and substance abuse prevention, and comply with statutes giving preference to Illinois citizens on public works projects. All work must be substantially complete by the specified completion date.
