This project includes the removal and replacement of the existing cooling tower at the William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Alabama. The building will remain fully occupied during construction, so a temporary emergency chiller and pump system must be connected to the existing building loop while the new system is being installed. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid, but not more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and statutory labor and material payment bonds and insurance in compliance with requirements will be required when signing the contract. Bid documents may be obtained digitally from Williams Blackstock Architects. Attendance at a mandatory pre-bid conference at the facility is required for all contractor bidders; bids from those who do not attend will be rejected. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the architect or copies thereof. All bidders exceeding the state licensing board's established amount must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must show evidence of license before bidding, including clearly displaying the current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope and on the proposal form.
