The work consists of removal and salvage of existing waterlines attached to the bridge, installation of approximately 60 linear feet by jack and bore of 36-inch steel casing pipe with 20-inch CL 51 Ductile Iron pipe under Tuscaloosa Road, installation of a 20-inch resilient seat gate valve, connections to existing waterlines, water line isolation, concrete paving removal and replacement, gravel parking removal and replacement, and approximately 550 linear feet of 24-inch (IPS) DR9 HDPE by Horizontal Directional Drill and all associated necessities to complete the project. The Contractor is responsible for performing all work and furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials required by the specifications and referenced drawings. The contract time is 100 calendar days, with liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day for not achieving Substantial Completion, and additional special damages for engineering and inspection costs incurred after the stipulated time for completion. Each contractor submitting a bid in excess of $50,000 must display their Certificate of Responsibility Number on the bid and envelope, or note if the bid does not exceed $50,000. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope or electronically as specified. Each bid must include a Bid Bond or Certified Check equal to five percent of the bid, payable to the City of Columbus. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Payment Bond and Performance Bond, each for 100 percent of the contract amount. Bid documents must be purchased through the specified website.
