Replacement of the Hour Glass Pool at the Wayside Cemetery in Marblehead, MA. This project involvesthe demolition ofportions and replacement ofa non-functional hourglassshaped decorative pool originally constructed in 1965. The existing stone masonry surround is to be preserved and protected throughout the course ofthe work. The interiorstructure, plumbing, and electrical are to be removed and replaced in their entirety. Existing Pool Specifications (built in 1965) o Shape: Hourglass o Overall Length: 70 feet o Width at Each End: 30 feet o Depth: 18 inches at the deepest point in each section o Construction: o Monolithic poured concrete structure o Wall Thickness: 12 inches o Floor Thickness: 8 inches o Bond Beam: 12 inches (integral with wall) o Reinforcement: V2" steel rebar at 6" on center o Concrete Mix: 3000 PSI, 3" slump o Surround: Stone masonry border (to remain) o Stone Wall Feature: Dividing wall between upper and lower levels with waterfall feature o Pump Vault: Enclosed in a below-grade pit with heavy-duty metal access doors o Utilities: o Electrical: Existing conduit running to utility pole o Gas Line: Runs parallel to the street from the lower-level center Base Bid 1. Demolition & Preparation o Remove and properly dispose of existing interior concrete, plumbing, and electrical systems. o Protect and maintain all existing stone masonry surround and adjacent burial markers. 2. Structural Reconstruction o Rebuild pool structure using new concrete matching original dimensions. o Reinforcement and bond beam per original design or updated engineering. o Agua-tinted Gunite-type finish (like color depicted in above picture). 3. Plumbing and Electrical o Install new plumbing lines, filtration system, pump (housed in existing vault). o Install electrical for uplighting offountains. o Install new electrical components per code, using existing conduit where feasible. 4. Water Feature o Restore or rebuild waterfall between upper and lower levels. o Install new upper-level fountain feature (specify type and finish) and lower end fountain feature where eternal flame is depicted in specifications pictured. Fountains to have 4' ring spray with approx. 3' height. 5.
