Correctional Services Division is seeking a comprehensive report assessing the existing stairwells within the living units at the Edmonton Remand Centre. The report should include recommendations for either modification of the existing or partial or full replacements, with the proposed designs being non-climbable. The site has four types of stairwells across the various living units, so solutions for all types are requested. There are 28 total stairwells. The successful Proponent will conduct an investigation and will generate a report, with input from internal stakeholders to include two (2) options per stairwell type, presumed to be one (1) modification to the existing structure and one (1) replacement of the existing railings and/or stairwell. The report shall include budgetary cost estimates for all of the options, and shall include the Proponent's recommendation.
