This requirement includes constructing a new stand-alone contaminated waste plant and renovating or replacing multiple related facilities at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. Work includes constructing a new decontamination facility designed to process ammunition production equipment contaminated with propellant, explosives, and pyrotechnic compounds, providing liquid decontamination bays, a decontamination verification car-bottom oven, waste collection, treatment, and neutralization capabilities, staging areas, support offices, restrooms, and an outdoor covered storage area. Support and utility spaces will be segregated from energetic processing areas by a fire-rated wall. Building 160 will be renovated and modernized with targeted process and infrastructure replacements, while Building 161 will be fully replaced, also incorporating targeted system updates. The lift station at Building 160C will be replaced with a modern system using vertically mounted progressive cavity pumps with above-grade motors and a larger double-contained wet well, along with a protective structure above the pump motors. Construction activities may require remediation and disposal of contaminated soil in accordance with Missouri Department of Natural Resources standards. Industrial Building Construction.
