Renovation of an educational facility in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The Department of General Services is soliciting design-build proposals for HVAC upgrades and roof replacement at Sharpe Health School, located at 4300 13th Street NW, Washington, DC 20011. The project includes full design and construction services while the school is occupied, specifically HVAC replacement, new ceilings and lights, and roof replacement. The scope requires consideration of DC Building Energy Performance Standards and the Carbon Free DC 2050 initiative, calling for future conversion capability to a geothermal system. Systems must be designed for net-zero emissions and allow for electrification. Tasks must be scheduled in phases to accommodate school occupancy, and stop-gap occupant comfort measures must be implemented. The design should provide for a hydronic HVAC system with a central plant, forced-air terminal units, and ventilation meeting indoor air quality standards (using the Indoor Air Quality Procedure and ASHRAE 62.1). Dedicated systems are required for large spaces, and ancillary area conditioning must conform to DCPS standards. The Department requires that this Project will start upon execution of the Notice to Proceed ("NTP") issued by the Contracting Officer ("Contracting Officer" or "CO") and be ready for staff, teachers, and students for the 2027/2028 school year.
