The work consists of grinding, excavation and removal of existing pavement and construction of PCC pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, alleys, driveways and ADA ramps, adjustment of utilities, and all other work necessary to complete the improvements in accordance with the Plans and Specifications. Estimated quantities include construction surveying, clearing and grubbing, adjusting manhole frames and covers, adjusting utility covers, unclassified excavation, asphalt concrete, curb and gutter removal and reconstruction, sidewalk removal and reconstruction, alley pavement removal and construction, ADA curb ramp removal and construction, and crushed miscellaneous base for excess backfill. Each proposal must be accompanied by a bidder's security equal to ten percent of the bid price. Payment and performance bonds, each at 100% of contract amount, are required. A list of subcontractors must be submitted with the bid. All contractors must conform to federal prevailing wage laws and provide for equal employment opportunities. Compliance with California Labor Code Sections 1770-1780 and registered apprentices employment is required. Bidders must make good faith efforts under DBE requirements and comply with nondiscrimination clauses. All contractors and subcontractors must be registered and qualified to perform public work as per relevant State codes.
