The City of Newnan seeks qualified and experienced contractors for Phase 1 of the Farmer Street Cemetery Improvements Project at 92 Farmer Street, Newnan, Georgia. The intent is to enhance public accessibility and interpretation while preserving the dignity and integrity of the historic landscape in this historic African American cemetery. Work is guided by the City and the Farmer Street Cemetery Commission, with design by Pond & Company. The site is approximately 8.76 acres, with about 1 acre proposed for disturbance. Extreme care must be taken to avoid disturbing graves or cultural materials, and all work must align with applicable preservation, archaeological, and environmental regulations. The scope includes demolition of the existing asphalt driveway, installation of a new asphalt driveway and formalized parking, installation of fencing and masonry columns along Farmer Street, installation of a pedestrian concrete path and entrance node, stormwater management/bioretention infrastructure, and landscaping.
