The work consists of refurbishing the balcony and railing of the Robert E. Johnson (REJ) State Office Building at 1501 Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas. The project involves reconstructing the existing balcony railing system to enhance safety and compliance by raising the top rail elevation from 42 to 46 inches and eliminating perimeter gaps in the railing assembly. The scope includes: disassembly of the existing railing system; salvage and reuse of stainless-steel components such as brackets, handrail, and top rail; removal and disposal of existing steel tube posts; fabrication and installation of new stainless-steel brackets and steel tube posts; replacement of all fasteners, including screws, bolts, washers, and nuts; removal and replacement of sealant in the cast-stone (concrete) coping; and repair of cracks and spalls within the coping. Technical questions must be submitted in writing.
