https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2026/01/contractor-must-narrow-claims-or-add-3rd-defendant-in-ann-arbor-school-construction-dispute-judge-says.html ANN ARBOR, MI - The HVAC contractor behind an Ann Arbor Public Schools construction dispute may have to narrow down its allegations in court against the district and the project's manager -- or else, add another defendant -- months ahead of a potential trial date. The Ottawa Lake-based Core Mechanical Inc. was reportedly hired for an $11.4 million renovation at Ann Arbor's Wines Elementary and Forsythe Middle School in early 2022. In a complaint filed last August, the company alleged months-long work delays and "severe mismanagement" from AAPS as the hiring party and Clark Construction Company, which oversaw work in a school boiler room, resulted in $2.7 million in productivity and other business losses. However, because Core attributed part of the issue to a design error, Clark sought to assign some of the blame to the project's architect in a notice late last year. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sealed bids are requested for 2026 Roofing Replacement and Repairs at multiple school sites: Angell Elementary, Forsythe Middle School, and Scarlett Middle School. Completed bids must be submitted electronically. Requirements for submission include a completed Bid Pricing Form, a notarized Bid Disclosure Statement regarding familial relationships, a Contractor Information Form, an Iran Economic Sanctions Act Form, a Certification Form, and a 5% bid security in the form of a bid bond or certified bank check. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond, each amounting to 100% of the contract price. The school district retains the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in the bidding process, and accept bids other than the lowest.
