The Washington DC Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) requires one on-site mechanic twice a week to provide preventive maintenance and repair services for elevators, conveyances, and lifts. The contractor shall furnish all personnel, supervision, professional expertise, vehicles, tools, materials, equipment, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, cleaning supplies, and quality control necessary to perform the work. The VA will not supply tools, equipment, test devices, laptops, service manuals, or diagnostic software. The contractor must provide all operational and technical documentation, including service manuals, schematics, parts lists, and diagnostic equipment required to meet performance standards. Contractor qualifications include being licensed, insured, and bonded, with certifications for maintenance and repair of elevators, conveyances, and lifts from approved regulatory agencies such as the District of Columbia Board of Trades or the International Union of Elevator Constructors. Technicians must hold current certifications, such as Certified Elevator Technician through the National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) or equivalent, and have completed manufacturer-specific training for all models at the Washington DC VAMC. A minimum of three years of experience on the equipment to be maintained is required. The contractor must maintain adequate insurance coverage acceptable to the VAMC.
