The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, plans to conduct maintenance dredging of the Hudson River Federal Navigation Project at Haverstraw Bay, New York. The project involves removing approximately 200,000 cubic yards of critical shoals to restore navigational depth. Dredging will be performed to a depth of -32 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 1-foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material, primarily silt and clay, will be transported and placed at the Historic Area Remediation Site (HARS) located at the New York Bight Apex in the Atlantic Ocean. All necessary permits will be provided by the Government, and the contractor must comply with all permit conditions. Due to water quality restrictions, dredging must occur within the specified in-water work window, anticipated between August and November 2026, with work starting no earlier than August 15, 2026. The contractor must maintain a minimum average daily dredging production rate of 2,610 cubic yards to ensure timely completion and minimize impacts on Hudson River navigation. The work will require a mechanical dredge equipped with a closed clamshell environmental bucket, along with multiple barges and tugboats for dredging and material placement operations.
