Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Houston, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This project is to make erosion repairs to the De Zavalla Rd at HCFCD Unit N101-00-00 in Precinct 2 which is experiencing shoulder failures due to erosion caused by the road being constantly submerged to high tides. The repair work includes: Extending the West end of the existing steel sheet pile wall located at the South side of the De Zavalla Rd, removing failed asphalt shoulder, repairing and extending existing guardrail with mowing strip, and installing a small area of riprap. This project requires a Contractor with at least 5 years of experience installing steel sheet pile walls of similar sizes and in similar conditions as required in this project. To protect the edge of the roadway pavement and sub-grade from being undermined during and after the removal of the failed asphalt shoulder, the removal of the failed asphalt shoulder and the installation of the steel sheet pile wall shall be performed by sections of no more than 20 feet. In addition, the Contractor is responsible for protecting the exposed edge of the asphalt pavement and subgrade from being undermined during the removal of the failed asphalt shoulder. Therefore, the removal/sawcut of the failed asphalt shoulder shall be just enough to allow for the installation of the sheet pile sections in 20 feet segments, that is, some of the failed asphalt shoulder should be left in placed temporarily to protect the edge of the pavement and subgrade from being undermined. The remaining of the failed shoulder shall be removed after the complete installation of the sheet pile wall. If the Contractor prefers to remove the entire section of failed shoulder along the 20 feet segment, the Contractor has to submit a plan for approval on how to protect the edge of the exposed pavement and subgrade from being undermined while being in contact with water, any work or materials required to protect the exposed edge of pavement shall be incidental to the bid item for dewatering. The County requires Vendors to make a good faith effort to meet or exceed a 27.71% goal for participation by M/WBEs on this project. Job No. 023-242 Bridge Maintenance Repairs to De Zavalla Road at HCFCD Unit N101-00-00 for Harris County Precinct 2. Question Deadline 01/09/2026 at 12:00 PM CT Questions will be received at online.
