The SE 2nd Street Water Main project includes the replacement of the existing water main along SE 2nd Street from SE Jacob St. to SE Little Beaver Drive; and SE Trail Ridge from SE 3rd Street to 101 feet north of the SE 2nd Street and SW Trail Ridge Road intersection in the City of Grimes. The construction includes approximately 1,567 LF of 8" trenchless PVC water main and 80 LF of 8" trenched water main. Other associated improvements include: full depth PCC pavement patching, removal and replacement of existing driveways, removal and replacement of sidewalk pavement, fire hydrant removal and installation, water service installation, erosion control, surface restoration, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. A preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa. Resident bidders will be allowed a preference as against nonresident bidders from a state or foreign country if that state or foreign country gives or requires any preference to its own bidders. Bidders must submit a fully completed and accurate Bidder Status Form with the Proposal or risk the Proposal being deemed non-responsive and rejected. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price, guaranteeing performance, payment, and maintenance for four (4) years after acceptance. Disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full and fair opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin. Payments will be made on the basis of estimates approved by the Engineer, with 97% paid as work progresses and 3% retainage released upon project acceptance and satisfaction of requirements. The City will issue a sales tax exemption certificate for material purchased for the project. The Contractor must substantially complete the project within seventy (70) working days, with full completion within ten (10) working days after substantial completion. Liquidated damages will be assessed for late completion. The City of Grimes reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and enter into such contract(s) as are deemed in its best interest.
